Find out how Lagos wants to diversify its cultural offer

The Seminar took place in the Auditorium Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI the participatory seminar "Lagos: Culture and Built Heritage - Diversification of Cultural Routes", an initiative that integrates the SuSTowns project, of which Lagos is a pilot city.

According to the municipality, the project has carried out several activities in the municipality, aiming to explore, together with the community, alternative proposals for cultural routes based on more sustainable tourism.

Some proposals for new cultural routes were presented, both for visitors and residents and based on concepts of "sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics" (New European Bauhaus), which resulted from a first meeting with a working group last April.

Sensory Route Stops "Mão de Fátima", Architectural Heritage Route Cast and/or Wrought Iron (romanticism and art nouveau), Military Tourism Route (land, naval and underwater), Religious Heritage Route, Route of Pirates and Corsairs and Literary Route by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen were some of the projects presented, and the seminar participants had the opportunity to suggest some more such as the Sweets Route, Tiles Route, D. Sebastião Route and Infante Route.

The new proposals will now be refined for a new presentation and consultation with the public, which will be made available shortly. Its eventual implementation will make it possible to diversify and decentralize the cultural offer in the county, allowing both tourists and residents to learn more about Lagos and its history.
