During the first International Seminar in Faro, the Pilot Project of Griegos was presented. The aim of the strategy is to enhance the development of a sustainable and responsible tourism facing the decline of the demand in this small town.
During the first International Seminar in Faro, Portugal, hosted in July almost all of the partners were able to meet, present and discuss the pilot project activities, progress, challenges and address the future plans.
On this occasion, the Pilot Project of Griegos (Aragón, Spain) was presented.
The town of Griegos, in Teruel, is a small village hidden in the eastern sector of the Sierra de Albarracín region, with amazing high altitude tourism potential, not fully developed.
For this reason, the partners of the project designed the touristic package “HIGH WEEKEND: weekend in style”, aiming to create experiences intended for quiet tourists who enjoy the natural heritage of the area and who are attracted by its resources and the activities offered.
The tourism promotional plan consists of high-altitude weekends, each with a different theme, involving activities that can be carried out over 3 days such as: visiting, thematization of the accommodation and restaurants, promoting the lifestyle of the village.
For example, the first one carried out was “Weekend of literary”, a "slam poetic rural" basically aimed at people who write. In addition, this is an idea of great cultural interest that may draw the attention of other types of tourists, apart from those who love reading.
